Welcome to Collie Rescue US!

"Collie Rescue US" is an offspring of the Collie Dog Owners web portal (www.colliedogowners.com). Since 2002, Collie Dog Owners has been providing dedicated rough & smooth collie information to novice and experienced collie owners around the world. As one of the very first dedicated rough / smooth sites on the internet - and, to date, the largest - Collie Dog Owners takes its mission seriously - providing hard to obtain collie information to collie owners, ensuring that a great life will ensue for both owner and breed.

After all of these years, there still has not been a dedicated rough / smooth collie rescue listing site. Sure, there are random sites that list (sometimes out-of-date) information on sporadic rescues, but even those are hard to find if you are an internet novice and don't know your way around Google's depths. CollieRescue.US incorporates state of the art posting technology, keeping the listings new and fresh, and allowing rescue organizations themselves to come to their post page and list news, available collies, and more for our viewers to see!

Mission: To take in homeless collies on a small scale basis (I only foster one or two dogs at a time.)  To provide contacts and transportation assistance to other available collie rescues.  To provide information and resources for collie owners.

History: I had been fostering for a collie rescue for several years before moving to Kansas.  I got involved in an area all-breed rescue here and developed many contacts for many different breeds, but prefer to foster collies and other herding breeds since I am most familiar with their needs.  I started my own rescue in 2006 and am a resource for the collie owner who is not able to keep their collie, but may not want to surrender their collie to a humane society where it would have the chance of being euthanized.  I do foster a limited number of collies and adopt them to screened, appropriate homes, and provide support and referals if I am unable to provide immediate assistance to the collie in need.

Collie Rescue of Greater Illinois, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation established in 1995. We provide shelter and care to purebred Collies which have been abandoned or turned in to shelters. The Collies are placed in temporary foster homes until a permanent home can be found. Our commitment is to place the Collies in the best possible permanent home to give them a second chance in life. We have successfully placed Collies ranging in age from five weeks to twelve years. Prospective families that wish to adopt a Collie will be interviewed. Basic information about the family, pet ownership history and why they want a Collie is requested. Our goal is to achieve a successful match between the Collie and the adopting family. We want a happy ending to every rescue story, and part of that process is selecting a suitable Collie to fit into the lifestyle and needs of the adopting family.

Our volunteers have been rescuing collies in Virginia and Maryland, as well as networking with collie rescues in nearby states since the beginning of 2005. Since its inception, Collie Rescue, Inc. has saved well over 300 collies from shelters and owners who no longer wanted their pets.

Mission

Our mission is to place stray, abandoned and surrendered collies into loving and permanent homes, educate the public about the collie breed, and promote responsible pet care. Southland Collie Rescue, Inc. (SCR) is a non-profit, all-volunteer group
with corporate headquarters and central operations at our  “O’Neil’s
Collie Haven” property in Riverside, California.

Our mission is to rescue every Southern California Collie in need.  We take
in,  care for, and find loving homes for Purebred Collies (and Collie mixes when we can).  The rescued Collies may be in shelters, abandoned, or given up by owners who can’t or won’t care for them any more.  We ensure that every rescued Collie is spayed or neutered, current on shots, and checked for health and temperament.  We also provide whatever medical treatment is necessary – one of our major expenses.

We maintain our Collies at Collie Haven or in a volunteer foster home, where they’re fed, roomed and loved as if they were the fosterer’s own dogs.  We then find the right “forever home”, interviewing and visiting all potential adopters to ensure that the Collie and his-or-her new family will be happy.

We adopt our Collies into Southern California homes only.
If you live outside Southern California, please see The
Collie Club of America’s Rescue List
for a listing of Collie Rescues by
state, where we hope you’ll find the right Collie Rescue.

SCR rescues approximately 75-100 Collies every year.  Half of those Collies are rescued during the summer months, when so many people abandon or give up their dogs.  SCR is always in need of dedicated volunteers; however, midsummer through the end of fall is the time our volunteer need is the greatest, especially foster homes.

If you’d like to learn more about welcoming a rescued Collie into your home (we hope you will!), click on the How To Contact Us link on the left side of this page.  You’ll then see a list of our Area Coordinators, with contact information for each one.

NorCal Collie Rescue was founded in August 2005 by collie lovers living throughout northern California.  Some of us have been working to rescue collies for many years, and members of our group of rescuers worked for other collie rescue organizations until recently.  We came together in our new incarnation as NorCal Collie Rescue to serve northern California and adjacent areas of Nevada and Oregon, as the most comprehensive collie rescue organization yet to serve this region.

The NorCal Collie Rescue is a public benefit non-profit corporation, California corporation number C2751030.  NCR has received its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS, EIN:  20-3381549. All donations are fully tax deductible.

The aim of NorCal Collie Rescue  is to rescue every purebred collie dog in California outside the area covered by Southland Collie Rescue, from shelters, relinquishing owners, finders, or other sources, regardless of the age, state of health, or condition of that collie.  We may also serve adjacent areas of western Nevada and southern Oregon when the need arises, provided we have resources available.

NorCal Collie Rescue was formed from a consortium of local collie rescuers within its area of coverage.  We welcome any and all individuals and organizations sharing our goals and willing to abide by our by-laws to join with us to rescue and rehome collies.  We also cooperate with and support all legitimate non-profit dog rescues within the state of California and beyond.

NorCal Collie Rescue may also provide aid to collies in other areas and in ways other than rescuing and rehoming them.  NCR maintains close ties with our mentor organization, Southland Collie Rescue.  We work with other 501(c)(3) Collie rescues to assist with home checks, transporting collies, foster homes and adoptions.  We also assist with rescuing and rehoming collie mixes and collies not handled by NCR on our referrals page..
